About The AI Tool Spot
Hi, I’m Ian Sung.
I’m an IT professional working with automation, scripting, and workflow optimization — and I’ve been using AI tools daily for the past two years.
I started The AI Tool Spot because I kept running into the same problem: there were hundreds of AI tool reviews online, but almost none of them answered the question I actually needed answered — does this tool make a real difference in how you work every day, or is it just impressive in a demo?
After two years of daily use across blogging, automation projects, and professional workflows, I built a clear picture of which tools genuinely deliver and which don’t. Every review on this site is based on that real-world use — not feature lists or surface-level testing.
Across my workflow, AI tools now save me several hours per week — especially in writing, research, and repetitive tasks. Some tools have completely replaced processes that used to take hours.
What I Actually Use AI Tools For
I’m not a casual observer of AI tools — I use them every day across a wide range of real tasks:
- Professional work — using AI to streamline IT workflows, automate repetitive processes, and manage complex projects more efficiently
- Automation — building automation scripts and programs to eliminate manual tasks, including automated systems and workflow tools
- Language learning — using AI tools to accelerate language study, including preparing for professional language certifications
- Image creation — generating and editing visual content using AI image tools across multiple projects
- Research and writing — using AI daily for information gathering, content drafting, and professional communication
How I Test AI Tools
Every tool reviewed on this site goes through the same process.
Real use, not demos. I use each tool as part of my actual daily workflow — for work tasks, personal projects, and everything in between. If a tool doesn’t hold up under everyday conditions, that shows up in the review.
Side-by-side comparisons. I test tools against each other on the same tasks — so when I say Claude produces better long-form writing than ChatGPT, it’s based on running both tools on the same brief and comparing the output directly.
Free plan first. I always test the free plan before evaluating paid tiers — because most readers want to know what they can get before spending anything.
Honest about limitations. Every tool has weaknesses. I include them — even when a tool is one I use regularly and genuinely recommend.
To date, I’ve personally tested over 50 AI tools across writing, productivity, image generation, coding, and research categories.
Why Trust This Site?
Most AI tool websites list features. I focus on one thing: whether a tool actually improves your workflow after the first week of real use.
I’m not affiliated with any AI company, and I don’t accept payment to change or improve a review. The tools I recommend are the ones I actually use.
Some links on this site are affiliate links — meaning I may earn a small commission if you sign up through my link, at no additional cost to you. This never influences which tools I recommend or how I rate them. I only recommend tools I’ve personally tested and genuinely find useful.
All reviews are based on my personal experience and are regularly updated to reflect real-world performance.
